Happy Birthday HGM

When I read her posts, I feel a strange and lovely calm descending on me.
She's not afraid to stand up for what she believes in.
I've never met her but I admire her for she has the courage of her convictions.
In my mind I build an image of her, a bright, elegant and creative mind open to adventure.
Lazy afternoons find me wandering over to her blog to read through older posts.
They make me laugh, sometimes they make me cry, but they always make me think.

Blogpals

Sometime last month, Mac came visiting. He's the first of many blogpals I've made. We commented on each other's blog on and off, and tried to figure out why we felt like we knew each other. We didn't, actually. One day, he suddenly put two and two together, and came up with the answer. Turns out, we had both studied at MCC, albeit in different decades, and that was good enough for both of us to shift from blogpals to almost-real-life-pals. Of course, when he returned to India, we made plans to meet, and we did. Mac came over to Bangalore, along with a box of safety pins, and we met at Koshy's for a drink and dinner. Somehow, neither of us felt like we were meeting someone new. It was just two old friends catching up. We chatted about a lot of things and hope that it will be the first of many evenings of spiritual bonding. His spirit is whisky and mine's beer.
After dropping Mac off in front of Chinmaya Hospital to wait for the Jujube, I went on to meet the Poet and Calvin, both of whom I was meeting for the first time. Now since the hour was advanced, and since I had an early morning flight to catch, this meeting took place on the pavement of a Bangalore road. It lasted quite long, though, with curious rats popping out from behind a garbage can to check us out, and other curious rats stopping their bikes to check us out too.
On my way home, it struck me that I had met all the blogpals I had made when I first started posting. And three of them in the space of an hour.
I enjoyed that evening. It reminded me how much I loved blogging. I'll try to post more often.

Blobituary

Jimmy’s was a blog I read everyday
It made me laugh and it made me play
But sad to say it’s on its way
To someplace dark, without a lighted ray.

Jimmy, please say you’ll blog for us
We’ll read you ever without a fuss

Jimmy, we’re searching through all blogworld
We don’t like how you’ve put us on hold
We think your blog is great, as good as gold
And love its posts both small and bold.

Jimmy, please say you’ll blog for us
We’ll read you ever without a fuss

Jimmy, we’re worried you’ve disappeared
And we’re sifting through rumours we all have heard
Checking every day and stifling our dread
That Jimmy’s dear blog is truly dead.

Jimmy, please say you’ll blog for us
We’ll read you ever without a fuss

(With apologies to Conway Twitty. And apologies to all of you for my terrible attempt at lyrics - I can't rhyme to save my life - but you see what lengths that little monkey has driven me to)

Missing Jimmy

Last seen posting about his mistress Ms. Reaper.
A picture of macabre death with scythe included in said post.
Calling for everyman and woman, gypsies and tramps, vagabonds original and not,
to launch search party.
Any news from anyone who has seen and heard from him will be welcome
and rewarded with eternal gratefulness in new post.
